Born Viola Schoenfeldt on July 24, 1908 in North Tonawanda, she was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. The mother of seven, she was the widow of Thomas P. Heimback.
Her interest in china painting began after she and a partner opened Vi-Hi Ceramics, a ceramics studio on Main Street in the City of Tonawanda, where she sold china and led ceramics classes.
Later, she established a studio in her home and taught china painting. Viola died April 22, 2003.
